White Sea (2011)

St.James Cavalier Theatre, Valletta
1-2-3-8-9-10 July 2010

Synopsis

The story of two women whose connection with the port has existed since childhood, bound by the trajectory of the captain. As they grow with the habitual transitions, the strong male figure connects their lives with a magical gift which transcends through a journey of conflict, fantasy and pursuit. As the female characters enter the world of memories, they spiral through visions and break out of the body which has confined them to their adulthood. The two women blur into the depths of turbulence and through encounters, struggle and transformations, they submerge in unity which is held together by the powers of the sea.The White sea is what holds the eternal search of harmony in the life, soul and heart of the characters, and like the tidal rhythms, they swim towards, away and past each other seeking for the moment of unity.

I find this show outstanding because as collaborative art it is excellent.  The ever changing lighting, music composition and execution, timing of animated props and the versatility of the costumes were so harmonious that their fantasy world was readily believable.
